VISIT FLORIDA Demonstrates Corporate Social Responsibility

NEWS RELEASE TOPIC:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: January 5, 2009

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Dec. 19, 2009) – VISIT FLORIDA, the state’s official tourism marketing corporation, encouraged attendees of the Luxury Travel Expo in Las Vegas to take a few minutes from the hustle and bustle of the tradeshow floor to pick up a paint brush and help brighten the worlds of hospital patients. An estimated 50 travel agents painted tiles of a “Birds of Paradise” mural. The in-booth project benefits The Foundation for Hospital Art, an organization that provides colorful works of art to hospitals around the world, all of which are painted by volunteers. Once assembled, the mural from the Luxury Travel Expo will be donated to Lee’s Place, a grief and loss counseling center in Tallahassee, FL.

“Opportunities to give back to the community are inherent in the framework of VISIT FLORIDA,” said Chris Thompson, Chief Operating Officer of VISIT FLORIDA. “As the leader in Florida tourism, it’s critical to impress upon the industry the importance of corporate social responsibility and the roll it plays in our business.”
