View Florida through the eyes of Artists
NEWS RELEASE TOPIC:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: February 24, 2009
With all of its natural wonder, it is no surprise that Florida has become an artist’s playground. The award-winning Florida Highwaymen have been creating Florida splendor through art for over 40 years. The group received its name after being turned away from galleries during segregation and was forced to be innovative by creating galleries along Florida’s highways. The stage for the artistic spectacles is the Indian River Region in Fort Pierce. The eyes of artist wonder are all over the Sunshine State such as the Cummer Museum of Art and Garden in Jacksonville that showcases the largest fine art collection in the northeast. For the modern artist, St. Petersburg houses the most comprehensive private collection of surrealist painter Salvador Deli’s works in the world at the Salvador Deli Museum. Florida is not only a recreational playground to surfer and sun-bathers but to artist as well.
