Florida’s arts festivals are like turkey dinners on Thanksgiving Day, numerous and everyone wants to be at one. From the northern tip of Pensacola to the most southern tip of the keys, hundreds of arts shows and festivals can be found in abundance throughout the state and during any season. The Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival, in Pensacola is a great place to kick off the fall season as it runs through the first week in November every year. Boasting more than 200 of the nation’s best painters, potters, sculptors, jewelers, graphic artists, craftsmen and mixed-media artists, the festival brings a creative spark to Pensacola’s already historic culture. Travel east and you will find the Riverside Arts Festival in Jacksonville. This festival on the water paints a scene filled with nationally recognized art exhibits and a whole smorgasbord of musical genres. From there, take a trip south and discover an “out of this world” experience at the Space Coast Art Festival (www.spacecoastartfestival.com) Thanksgiving weekend in Cocoa Beach. Started along the pristine beaches of the Space Coast in 1963, the festival now has a year-round headquarters, complete with a gallery to support local artists and out-reach programs for children. Next on the festival list is the ArtiGras Fine Arts Festival, which will jam-pack the beaches of Jupiter with festival excitement. Celebrating 24 years, ArtiGras attracts more than 150,000 art lovers and collectors and is held mid-February in 2009.
